I left academia at the beginning of 2018 to pursue opportunities in industry. This website is only receiving minor updates as co-authored papers are published. In addition, I am continuing to co-advise a graduate student, Shirley Leung, in Physical Oceanography at the University of Washington. She is graduating in Spring, 2020.


I created this website when I was a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Oceanography and eScience Institute at the University of Washington. My research was supported by the Washington Research Foundation Fund for Innovation in Data-Intensive Discovery and the Moore/Sloan Data Science Environments Project at the University of Washington. I received my Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of South Carolina and was a postdoctoral researcher in the Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences Program at Princeton University before moving to Seattle.


My academic research focuses on forecasting the impacts of climate change on animals living in coastal and open ocean ecosystems. In the course of my research, I develop mechanistic models that incorporate physiological, chemical, and physical dynamics. I have also built a numerical model to simulate bacterial decomposition of sinking organic carbon in the ocean. I have additional interests in reproducibility and data visualization.
